Key Exchange Boxes

Key exchange boxes are required where simple 2 loc & 3 lock systems are not sufficient. Numerous complicated combinations are possible with Key Exchange Boxes. The housing is of Aluminium or sheet metal. These are fixed on the panel sides or on the walls.

Type DE-F

This is a simple key exchange box with two types 'DS' locks mounted in an aluminium enclosure. The two locks are interlocked to each other with cams inside, so that only one key can be removed at one time.

Application

This can be mounted directly on to a circuit breaker to work in co-ordination with HT cubicle access door or Air Break switch etc. This box eliminates the necessity of a separate key exchange box.

Type DE-SL

This is a key exchange box with a number of locks fixed on the front panel and one lock (refered to as the MASTER LOCK) fixed on the side. The Master key is trapped when all the other keys are removed and all front keys must be trapped to release the master key. The sheet metal housing can be mounted in the front of the panel or a wall.

Application

This can be used as on exchange between a control switch and a number of cubicle doors or a main breaker and a number of Man holes. All the cubicle doors or Man holes must be closed and their respective keys must be exchanged in the key exchange box to release the master key to operate the control switch or the breaker.

Loose locks are the separate locks, other than the locks mounted on the key exchange box. They are for mounting on the switches, circuit breaker etc. and can be of any type
Loose keys All the keys whether supplied separately or trapped in the exchange box shall be called as loose keys. They can be of any type.

How to order

  • DE-SL. Type 'DE-SL' key exchange box.
  • HA1. Master lock
  • A, B, C, D, E, F. Front locks.
  • All loose locks and keys shall be mentioned separately, with res. spec. for their types.

Type DE-SK

This is a Key exchange box similar to DE-SL. Instead of the Master key, a control knob is fixed. The control knob will have a number of positions and in each position a predetermined set of Front keys can be released while the other keys will be trapped.

Application

This box is useful where a set of switches are to be interlocked in a complicated pattern which can not be achieved by type DE-SL alone. Numerous combinations can be made possible with this exchange box. The housing is of sheet metal for front of the panel or wall mounting.

How to order

  • DE-SK/A,B,C,D,E,F/4 COM. Type 'DE-SK' key exchange box with A,B,C,D,E,F locks& 4 combinations possible.
  • I-A,B,C,D,E. At combination 'I' A,C,D,E keys can be released.
  • II-A,B,F. Refer to the keys that can be released at each combination.
  • III-C,E,F. Refer to the keys that can be released at each combination
  • IV-B,D,E,F. Refer to the keys that can be released at each combination

Type DLS

This is type DB lock with a Limit switch housed inside and coupled to the bolt. Hence the roration of key will actuate the limit switch. Limit switch rating - 230 V / 10 A with 1 NO + 1 NC

Application

This can be fitted to a circuit breaker with the limit switch controlling an electrical circuit in co-ordination with the operation of the circuit breaker.

How to order

  • DLS / A / CW / 2-20 / IN / RH / CN. Type DLS lock and other specifications similar to type DB.

Keys

Keys can operate all types of locks with corresponding inscription. SH Standard type key with short handle. KH Key with a round rod handle and Bakelite knob screwed to the top. LH Key with a flat handle similar to type SH.

How to order

  • SH / KH / LH.

Type DS

This is the basic lock, consisting of a main spindle with die-cast head in a brass housing. A key with figures corresponding to the figures on the die-cast head of spindle can be inserted in the housing to rotate the spindle in clockwise or anticlockwise direction.

Application

This is used to lock high voltage Air-break switches, OCB Panels; ACB Panels and doors of Electrical installations, etc.

How to order

  • CW - Clockwise movement to trap key
  • Sq.std - Sq. spindle of standard length (23 mm).
  • Example:2. DS/BF ACW/R-100 mm
  • DS/BF - Type DS lock
  • ACW - Anticlockwise movement to trap key
  • R-100mm - Round shaft of 100 mm length.

Type DB

Robust lock with lock and locking bolt housed in a heavy brass body. The bolt is advanced or retreated in perpendicular to the axis of the lock by the rotary movement of key.

Application

Used to lock heavy switches, doors, valve spindles etc.

How to order

  • Example:1. DB/AD/CW/2 20/IN/LH
  • DB/AD - Type DB lock
  • CW - Clockwise movement to trap key
  • 2-20 - Bolt projection of 2mm at retreated position and 20mm at advanced position. Hence bolt travel is 18mm.
  • IN - Bolt is IN (retreated) when key is free.
  • LH - Bolt in the left hand side.

Type DB

Robust lock with two parts that can be separated. Part one is the basic lock fixed in an alumnium housing with mechanism and part two is the rod shaped locking shaft mounted on an aluminium piece. When key is trapped Locking shaft can be removed. To release key the locking shaft must be inserted in the aluminium housing and rotated to be trapped. Hence only one of the key or locking shaft can be released at one time. The basic lock also has a 9.5mm sq. shaft extending beyond the aluminium housing for coupling with a rotary switch.

Application

Highly useful to lock doors, manholes, enclosures or two moving members.

Type ddb

This is a combination of type DB and DE-F. Two locks are mounted in a brass body and inter-lock to each other so that, only one key can be removed at a time. Besides, the one lock will also activate the bolt, causing it to advance and retreat.

Application

How to order

  • Example:DDB/A/CW/2-20/OUT/RH
  • Type DDB box with A lock at the left and G lock at the right which will actuate the olt. The lock closer to the bolt only can actuate the bolt.
  • CW/2-20/OUT/RH refers to the bolt specification.

Type dSW

This is type DS lock fitted with an ON-OFF rotary switch. The rotary movement of key will operate the switch.

Application

Used to control OCB's and control cubicles.
